FP had feared that Eleven-a-side had decided to give in to Irish footballing prejudices and abandon the league, so it’s nice to be able to report now that it seems they haven’t.
FP has decided to drop its club feeds, as a review has shown them disappointingly out of date.
Some clubs changed RSS addresses without notice; in other cases, the feeds simply stopped updating. The feature may return when things become a little more stable, and when time allows!
Talk about cherry-picking. Oz-owned eircom, no longer a name sponsor of the League, has launched Soccer Republic for ‘the best fans in the world.’
New media with an Irish focus looks set to trump old, EPL-centred media sites, with the introduction of live match updates by extratime.ie.
The league’s new website, loi.ie, is live today. It looks superb, with a very impressive skin and its own YouTube channel. It’s good to see underage integrated too.
The real test, of course, will be in its ability to maintain continuity and stay up-to-date. How will it hang together four months into the season? More anon…
Do GAA people use the expression ‘Face the ball’? Would have thought it a football term, usually used at kickout, but it could also have crossed over to the more recent code.
